Still Searching for Relief From GERD

 9 months ago       102 Views

For millions of Americans, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), often known as acid reflux, is a daily torment. The steady and sometimes strong heartburn, coupled with on and off regurgitation (or bringing up food), can take the joy out of eating and lower a person's quality of life. Without medical care, it can also lead to severe digestive ailments.

Is it getting worse, and is that linked to the nation’s obesity epidemic? Are some ethnic and demographic groups more likely to have it, and are some also more difficult to treat? And why don’t current treatments work better?
