If the spread of Type 2 Diabetes continues at its present rate, the number of individuals diagnosed with diabetes in the United States will increase from about 16 million in 2005 to 48 million in 2050, according to the American Diabetes Association.

What is diabetes?

People with blood glucose levels that are higher than normal but not yet in the diabetic range have prediabetes.

Results indicating prediabetes are: An A1C of 5.7% to 6.4% Fasting blood glucose of 100 to 125 milligrams per deciliter If you have prediabetes, you have a higher risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes.

Preventing Diabetes Through Lifestyle Changes The good news is that you can prevent the onset of Type 2 Diabetes.

Identification and awareness of prediabetes is an important initial step.
