What are the signs and symptoms of Hashimoto's disease?

Since the progression of the disease is slow, it can take years to develop a decrease in hormone levels. The signs and symptoms are:
 
  • Hair loss
  • A puffy face
  • Brittle nails
  • Pale and dry skin
  • Fatigue and sluggishness
  • Constipation
  • Enlargement of the tongue
  • Unexplained weight gain 
  • Muscle weakness, aches, tenderness and stiffness
  • Joint pain and stiffness
  • Prolonged menstruation 
  • Memory lapses
